Operating Room Barbie

Last week, one of our OR Reps brought this cute OR Barbie doll into work at TOPS. Of Course, I had to bring it home to my sweet baby! I didn't realize that this is her first barbie. "Aurora" was a hit. It still amazes me at what a girly girl she truly is. I have never given her any barbies, however, she seemed to know exactly what to do with her. I think she even insisted on sleeping with her.

Aurora- Scrub nurse barbie. I work in the OR, but don't actually scrub, I circulate, but this is close enough...

This cracks me up

Avery really enjoyed playing with her hair, and taking her cap off.

And yes, she does have red cowboy boots on....she loves them.

I can't believe my baby is almost 2 years old! These 2 years have flown by. Everyday, I am still in awe at how much she is growing and developing such a personality.
Here is a few of the things she is saying and into:
  • Loves Elmo and Abby
  • Has recently developed a love for Dora the Explorer and Boots
  • one of her favorite sayings is "I hold you in a minute"....(can you tell we say this to her alot?)
  • we are working on the colors, but when asked what color something is, she automatically says, PINK!
  • Still goes to bed at around 6:30, and will ask to go bed if she is tired.....(I know we are blessed!) and sleeps till 7:30am
  • Sleeps with a ton of stuffed animals (I am actually kinda embarrassed that I let her do it)
  • is beginning to get interested in the potty, but I don't think she is quite ready yet.
  • Loves shoes, and is beginning to develop a preference over which ones she wants to wear...seriously, already?
  • Weighs 24lbs (I checked and she is in the 10th percentile for her weight)

Happy Birthday Ashlynn

Ok, so I know I have been slacking in the blog department. There really hasn't been anything really exciting to post. I am going to try to be a little better...I promise. Avery has been a little under the weather lately. She has been running a slight fever, with NO other symptoms. It is so frusterating because it just puts her in a horrible mood. As long as I keep her on motrin or tylenol she is fine. I did take her to the Dr, on thursday, but he said she is fine. I hope this blows over soon. The weather has been fabulous, and I want to be outside enjoying it! Come on Spring!

On Saturday, we celebrated Ashlynn's 2nd birthday. Avery was so excited, she had been talking about cake for 2 days.

What I've been reading...

The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It's far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose. -- P.17

Itz been a COLD weekend!

Well, the Ash family survived a weekend of sub-freezing temperatures. We wrapped all of the pipes and tried to prepare as much as we could for the freezing temperatures. Thankfully, we didn't have any pipes break. Our next door neighbor wasn't so lucky. I am sure glad this isn't the norm for Magnolia, it wasn't very fun.
After a weekend, cooped up in the house, we decided to take Avery to IT'z on Sunday after church. Is it time for spring already?

about to ride the train with mommy

"Daddy, I want to play!"

"pow-pow", Avery said as she saw the deer

I think Daddy had just as much fun,

Miss Kyndall's shower

This Sunday, we threw a shower for my great friend, Kristal. We have been friends since highschool, and am so glad we could shower her as she prepares to welcome her little girl. It was so much fun planning a girl shower, since ALL of my friends have had boys. Although, pretty soon, we will have little miss Kyndall, Brilynn, and Adalynn running around, Yeah!

I loved how the invites turned out. (I looooove invitations....yes I know I am a nerd)

Kelly outdid herself as always with the decor, if you look closely, Kyndall's name is on the tree

I ordered this banner online at http://www.etsy.com/, I was so impressed when it came in. It is going to look so cute in her room :)

I think we had enough food....

the girls

Little Miss Avery, she was even dressed in theme! I actually did this on accident, but I will still take credit for it.

Avery loved helping Kristal open her gifts, and of course being the center of attention

covering her dog with one of Kristal's new washcloths

The new big brother, Keaton

The shower wouldn't be complete without a Ms. Melinda cake!

And the best part, eating it!
We can't wait to meet you Kyndall Rae!

Once in a blue moon

Did you see the Blue Moon that occurred on New Year's Eve?
There are in fact two definitions for a blue moon. According to the more recent definition, a blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month. For a blue moon to occur, the first of the full moons must appear at or near the beginning of the month so that the second will fall within the same month (the average span between two moons is 29.5 days).

Blue moons occur about once every two and a half years, which is the origin
of the saying "once in a blue moon."
When I originally took these pics, I thought that Blue moons only occurred about once every 30 years, or so, but wrong, it looks like they are a little more common than I thought, oh well, it was still fun to see. What a way to send out 2009!
I call Avery my little moon watcher. She is always on the lookout for it, day or night. (Lately it has been out during the day.) She gets soooo excited when she sees it, and gets upset when she can't see it. I ask her about the sun, but she seems unimpressed.

Rockin' in 2010!

This year, we decided to ring in the new decade at the Galik household. Ok, well, we didn't actually make it till midnight, Avery passed out around 11pm, but it was close! The kids had a BLAST playing together, while the adults enjoyed some relaxing time too. This was the first time Avery got to pop fireworks, and I think she kinda enjoyed it. We even had a fantastic New Years Eve dinner, complete with Black-eyed peas and Cabbage, thanks Stephy!
